Xavier de Le Rue

  • For years, you’ve been filming and shooting with the same guys. How long have you been collaborating with them and what have been the greatest benefits of this partnership?

It's been 4 years that I've been shooting with the muppets, tero repo and guido perrini.

I guess that they know my riding, i know they are the best at choosing
shooting angles, so we just don't loose anytime.
We live in the same area, we are usually on the same page, we spend a
lot of time discussing things over and over, but at the ned of day,
when we go up there, the connection between us make awesome stuff come
out of the box.

What’s the best trip you ever had with the Timeline crew?

I guess it's antarctica in 2009, and guess what we are going there again in december, but with an AAA+ set up. Can't tel you more about it yetr, wiat a bit and you'll see some awesome stuff.

For you, why is it so important to have a proper mountaineering outsole on your snowboard boots?

I'm spending my time on ice, climbing somerides with rocks, big voids on my sides, so i need to trust my boots! shity boots up there can ruin your sessoion, and pushing it a bit your life somehow...

  • What are five things you should never forget when preparing for an extended tour during the winter?

Your dick, you brain, your balls, and your boots

What do you prefer: access via helicopter, sled, or your own two feet?

It depends. I think all of them have their good and bad sides. I think, that good friends, a good mind set and a good spot are the key before your way to access it.

After a successful day of shredding in AK, how does it feel to end your day fishing?

It's good to come back to simple pleasures of life. Shredding AK with
a heli is rather amazing, but it fucks also a lot with your mind...

How do you balance being a pro snowboarder, businessman, and father?

How ever i can.... i guess that getting a some sweat paddling for some barrels, or slamming on the concrete make me cope with the sides of a pro snowboarders life that people don't see.

  • After earning Freeride World Tour titles and snagging a cover of TWS that shows you straight lining an ice channel, what comes next?

Quite often in my life I've felt like there was nothing else to come
after some extraordinary sessions, but believe me at the moment i've
got stuff in the magic box

What’s your favorite thing about snowboarding?

That is a question that i ask my self a lot, and the answer keeps changing... probably the beauty of it.

Who is your favorite person to ride with? Why?

my brother victor although i have to admit it scares me having him drop into some lines in ak with me...

When it comes to safety, what advice do you have for riders hoping to slip into the backcountry?

take your time, don't feel stronger than the elements... these will
give you the best day of your life or crush you in a second
